There are many of you who are looking to buy a new laptop. But, when it comes to choose a good laptop within budget, many of you may not do it well (How To Select A Good Laptop). 

So, before buying a laptop, it is very important to know well about the laptop you want to buy. Also you have to consider your purpose or actual uses of your laptop.

I didn't know anything about a good laptop before. So, after buying my first laptop, I was very sad.

Moreover, I didn't know anything what to look for in a good laptop or how to get a good laptop.

So, in this case I have made a lot of mistakes, and I bought a laptop that was very difficult to use, with about 25,000 rupees.

Same thing may be happen to you if you buy a laptop without knowing anything about the laptop. Also your money will be wasted that has happened to me.

so in this post I am going to share 10 basic tips with you that should consider before buying your first laptop. If you consider this tips hope you will be able to choose a good laptop for you.

1) Latest Windows OS:

In Indian subcontinent as well as in the world we commonly used "Windows Operating System" on the laptop or desktop. So, before buying a laptop, you should consider the latest Microsoft Windows OS.

The latest Windows OS is called "Windows 10". Also, don't consider older Windows versions such as Windows 7 or Windows 8 because windows version will affect the performance of your laptop. Windows 10 work more faster than other versions.

So, in order to work faster on your laptop and keep its performance better, some of the latest versions of Microsoft windows such as "Windows 10 pro", "Windows 10 home" or "Windows 10 professional" should be placed on your laptop.

2. Screen / Display quality:

Most budget laptops have low quality or low resolution display. This type of display has a resolution of 1366 * 768 or less where you will not get a more clear display.

But it is true, this kind of display is best for general tasks. But, you will not find that fun while watching movies or playing games.

So, before buying a laptop, you should consider that it has Full HD (1920 x 1080) or 1080p resolution display. Where you will enjoy high resolution videos, playing games and more advanced works.

Moreover, if your budget is little bit higher, you can buy a laptop with better display quality or resolution.

E.g., Retina display (2304 x 1440), QHD (2560 x 1440) or 4K etc.

3. Laptop screen size:

I won't say much about the Laptop screen size. Because it depends entirely on your own needs.

However, I have used different sizes of laptops.

And, for those who work more on laptops and travel more with laptops, I think a 12- to 8-inch laptop is best.

 Because the laptop of 12 to 8 inches weight is very light and can be easily taken anywhere.

Laptops with such screen sizes will be slightly smaller.

Moreover, if you are buying a laptop for watching movies or playing games, then a 15 inch laptop would be best for you.

Laptops with a 17 inch size are best if you want a larger screen.

4. Laptop battery backup:

A laptop means using it without a designated place. And, in this case, it is not possible to run a laptop with electricity power all the time.

So, whether you are buying a laptop for work or for entertainment, you will surely want your laptop to run for about 6 to 8 hours with the backup of its battery.

And for that reason, you must know about battery backup before buying a laptop.

5. Keyboard & Touch pad quality:

Laptop keyboards and touch pads is very important, you must look of it. Generally people do not see this before buying a laptop and then face major problems with the keyboard and touch pad.

So, you will see what the quality of the keyboard, whether the buttons are easily accessible in your hand, quality of the button and touch pad.

6. Laptop Processor or CPU:

The performance of a laptop depends on the CPU or processor of your laptop. 75% of us do not verify the processor on the laptop when purchasing it.

And, due to the low quality processor, our laptop doesn't work fast.

Remember, the better quality of your laptop's CPU or processor, work faster and you will get better performance.

REMEMBER:

• The processor on your computer or laptop will always get better performance if you have dual core or more core such as quad core. Never buy a laptop with a single core processor.

• If your laptop has Intel Atom, Intel Pentium, Intel Celeron dual core or AMD A6 processor, then this CPU is sufficient for simple word processing, writing work, use of common software, watching normal quality videos and browsing the internet.

• If your budget is a bit high and you want to buy a high performance laptop, you can buy a laptop with Intel Core i5, Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen series processors. This kind of processor can easily do multi-tasking with good graphics like game play, full HD video viewing, video editing and some heavy heavy software.

So, the better the quality CPU or processor you have on your laptop, the stronger and faster the laptop will work.

Moreover, the more the processor of a new generation, the better its performance and the less battery power it will use.

So, always consider the latest generation processor if available.

7. Other Hardware Specifications - (RAM):

For a laptop to work quickly and smoothly without having to hang from time to time, the importance of RAM on a laptop is huge.

Remember, the more RAM you have on your laptop, the more power it can have. With more RAM, you get hang free and lag free performance.

Due to the high RAM, your laptop will work much faster, process any program easily and quickly, reduce the chance of hang-ups and multi-tasking easily.

So, be aware that at least 4GB to 8GB of RAM is on your laptop, so be sure to know.

Lastly, keep in mind that the higher the RAM frequency and DDR range, the higher its performance.

Therefore, the RAM of the laptop has DDR 3 or DDR 4 range.

Present day is the era of DDR 4. And this kind of RAM works most advanced and fast way than others.

8. Laptop Storage Capacity:

In general, after buying a laptop, you put in some movies, games, software, music or photos on your laptops. Moreover, we need some space to install Windows OS.

So, 500 GB storage or hard disk is enough for these simple things.

However, to hold more games or movies on laptops, 1TB hard disk is more than enough.

Because, we cannot put extra storage or hard discs on a laptop, so buying a laptop with more storage space in the first place and would be a good idea. For example, 1TB hard disk.

There is one more special thing involving storage and hard-disk.

Now a days, advanced quality hard disk is available. And, those are called SSD (solid state drive).

This type of SSD hard disk works much better and faster than ordinary HDD storage.

However, the cost of SSD hard disks is much higher than that of ordinary hard disks.

9. Other features & functions:

After paying close attention to all the issues, let's look at some of the common features and functions of laptops.

First, check whether your surviving laptop has a USB 3.0 port.

These types of USB ports can transfer or receive files much faster through pendrive or other external storage.

Second, you should also check if there is a DVD writer. Hey, nowadays a DVD disc is much less used.

But, I think it's important to have a dvd drive on the laptop. Because of this you can easily format windows with a bootable disc.

Moreover, you are given a DVD disc to install driver software for different hardware. And, if you don't have a DVD drive, you can't install them on a laptop.

But hey, you can download and install driver software online, though it is not possible to do this properly for everyone.

So, make sure you have a DVD drive on your laptop.

10. Laptop brand Matters:

So I know, before you buy a laptop, you must be thinking about the brand of laptop.

The special reason for this is the effect on warranty.

As a good brand like Acer, Asus, Dell and Lenovo, these laptops will get their service center easily.

Therefore, anytime within the warranty period, your laptop can easily be fixed free of charge if your laptop is damaged.

And, the good service of the brand's laptop company service centers and the response is very good.

Moreover, a good brand is always trustworthy and the hardware parts of the laptop rely on the original and good quality.

So, before taking a laptop for yourself, be sure to look into its brand and company.

In this, you will not have to face difficulties in the future.
