AMP actual goals and its performance | An overview of Google AMP

Which is developed and published by Google under Google AMP project. It was first published in 2016. Now the question arises what is the actual goals of AMP project?

Actual goals of AMP:

The main goals of AMP project is to increase page load time with less data consumption when visitor visit website on mobile device.

Why we use AMP:

Research shows that more than 25% of people leave website that are not not loaded within six second. That's why page load time is very serious concern for a website owners to get more visitors. Page load time also affect rank website on Google and other major search engines. Especially those website that have large volume of data or posts, suicide newspaper website, magazine website etc.

What is Google AMP?

Google AMP is a website development technology that lets you create web pages that loaded faster on mobile phones. Since in early 2016, over 30 million domains have published more than 2.5 billion AMP pages. This number are increased day by day.

To build AMP pages, you need to create another version of your site's that follows the AMP project’s standards. Once you do that, your AMP site will have its own URL  looks like this (site.com/page/amp) and and also be compatible with most popular web browsers like Chrome, FireFox, and Safari opera mini etc.

How Google AMP work?

To use AMP technology Google will host a static file of AMP compatible pages on its own servers and serve up the content instantly on its site. Just like Facebook Instant Articles, which lets users read articles without leaving Facebook’s mobile app.

Almost most of the popular and major search engines, social media platforms, content management systems(CMS), and E-commerce websites support Google AMP, such as Bing, Yahoo, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit, Twitter, Medium, WordPress, Squarespace, Tumblr, eBay, Amazon and BigCommerce etc.

Google also gives more priority in its search results those websites or pages Use AMP technology -- AMP is now a must need requirement for news site to rank number one in their mobile search results.

Limitation:

Well there is no doubt AMP technology loaded website faster and rank website on Google mobile search results.

Now we can discuss some limitation of AMP. The first limitation is that when people visit AMP computable pages or website they will see just a static version off that website. It cannot show the actual version of pages or website. That's why visitor cannot get full benefit from that website.

In the earlier stage of AMP project, publisher and advertiser doesn't like this. It can decrease their revenue.

But in recent days Google AMP launched the AMP Ads Initiative to provide publishers with ads that load up to five seconds faster than before.
